Tu Bishvat – New Year of the Trees

The holiday of Tu Bishvat is observed on the 15th of the Hebrew month of Sh’vat which falls this year on 28 January. Tu Bishvat is also known as Rosh HaShanah La’Ilanot, New Year of the Trees. The holiday has become a tree planting festival when Jews around the world plant trees or shrubs in honour or in memory of loved ones and friends.

We invite you to send videos of your family planting a tree or shrub in your garden and these will be compiled into a special video which will be played during the Shabbat service on Friday evening, 29 January 2021.
The younger children are welcome to draw pictures of flowers and plants and send these in to be included in the special video.
