In our Passover Hagaddah it says that: “In each and every generation, a person should regard himself as though he, himself, took part in the exodus from Egypt…”

On the eve of the Festival of Liberty, which is a reflection of our yearning for freedom, and our wish to be released from bondage and slavery, may we all have the wisdom to appreciate our personal and national freedom; to make good use of this freedom, and to ensure that our children are brought up to do the same.

Let us strive together both as individuals and as a collective community, to eradicate such phenomena as racism and slavery in their modern forms. And in their place let us instil tolerance, harmony and peace.
