parents to come to the opening class on Thursday 17 January 2017 at 17.00. If you haven‘t enrolled your child in the programme, please get in touch with the office to discuss the further steps.
Of course we will start the new school year with a joyful BACK to SCHOOL service. All learners and students are invited to join us for our Shabbat service on Friday 18 January at 18.00.
The Marilyn Trujillo 50/50 Club
Please join now for 2019: Kehillah’s Marilyn Trujillo 50/50 CLUB in memory of the late Marilyn – Don’t miss out! For only R180 per year you can help raise money in a fun way. The more people who participate….. the larger the monthly prize. The 50/50 Club is a draw in which half of the money raised goes to Bet David community projects and the other half is paid out to the members as cash prizes. There is a draw every month.
Please transfer the amount of R180.00 to the Bet David Sisterhood account (for details see the attached form, reference: 50/50 + Surname). After your transfer, please email your details to Glynnis, including your name, address, email and contact number. Good luck for the next draw!
Adult B’nai Mitzvah
Our members come from a diversity of backgrounds, each with a different level of formal Jewish education. Some have never had the chance to become a Bat or Bar Mitzvah. This is particularly true for women and those who converted to Judaism. Bet David offers these members the chance to celebrate Jewish learning in form of an Adult B‘nai Mitzvah .
Guided by Rabbi Schell, our adult B’nai Mitzvah class meets together in a small group from February to June 2019. Learning to read from the Torah and studying and discussing Jewish laws and customs in the context of the ProgressiveMovement, the group moves toward its B’nai Mitzvah celebration and graduation on Shavuoth (9 June 2019).
Unlike our traditional Bar and Bat Mitzvah programme through Cheder, this B’nai Mitzvah class is geared toward adult learners. The class forms a cohesive support group, and provides a warm space in which to explore one’s Judaism. The class will take place bi-weekly on a Tuesday evening (18h00 to 19h30). Fee: R2500,- for the course. For more information and to enroll, please contact Rabbi Schell or Glynnis.
