Bikur Cholim—Visiting the sick
Bikur cholim meaning ‘visiting the sick’, is an important Jewish tradition and, as such, is taken very seriously at Bet David. We have an amazing team, organised by Roger and Gail Scheuble and Ruth Wallach , who have already started to visit congregants.
If you would like to join them in fulfilling this mitzvah, please get in touch with them.
While Rabbi Schell and/or members of our Care Committee would like to visit you or a loved one who is ill, we respect your right to privacy. Please contact the Shul’s office to report a hospitalisation or illness and direct us in the most appropriate way to respond (011-783-7117 / admin1@betdavid.org.za).
Kehillah Visit to Door of Hope
On Tuesday, Lesley S, Rabbi Schell, Marilyn, Kendyll and Leatt (friend of Lesley) visited the Hillbrow house of Door of Hope to deliver some of the nappies that have been collected by Kehillah. We cannot thank you enough for the donations that have already come in, please remember this is an on-going project so your donations are always welcome. Currently this house has 17 children from 10 days old to 2 years old who they are caring for and raising. The ladies who work in the house are truly special, filled with love and great maternal care that these babies crave. We are proud to help this wonderful home.
The 45th Annual General Meeting of Bet David and the 43rd AGM of Bet David Kehillah will take place at Bet David on Wednesday 29 March 2017. We will be laying the foundation stones for the new shul on this day too. The foundation stone ceremony will begin at 6pm, followed by wine and cheese before the AGM at 6:45pm. Please ensure your RSVP to the office by Friday 24 March for catering purposes.
