Sunday Talk and Tea: Mordechai Perlov

We will be launching a monthly Sunday Talk and Tea. Once a month we will be offering a talk by a person of interest followed by tea and chats. The first talk will be by Mordechai Perlov on Sunday 21 May at 15:00.

About Mordechai: Mord Perlov was born in the Lithuanian Shtetl of Rasein. In 1941 at age 15, he was deported with his wealthy timber milling family to a Soviet Gulag. After 4 years of hard labour, Mord escaped and miraculously made his way to Israel, where he served as officer in the War of Independence. Although a proud Zionist, the longing for family brought him to South Africa. With the help of his uncle, Mord became a successful businessman first as the MD of the famous Chrystal’s bakery and later built the biggest sock manufacturer in the country. Now at age 90, it is his mission to tell the world about the horrors of Soviet communism.
